Beach Profiles
In beach profile two there are many ups and downs. This beach profile is near the shops, meaning that quite alot of people go to this part of the beach. The litter starts early down the beach and there are little signs of vegetation which is seen that it is closer to the road.
The first beach profile which is closer to the sea defences shows that it has a great incline. There are alot of vegetation, this includes trees ferns and bushes. This slant height is probably due to less human activities.
Although beach profile three is close to the shops too, the elavation of beach profile three is higher and it has more vegetation. Fewer amount of people go here as it can be seen there are alot of litters on the beach. At the top of the beach it is less straight meaning people go there more than at the bottom.
In comparison to profiles two and three beach profile four has a greater elevation, as it get nearer to the roadside it suddenly depreciates. Most of profile four's interaction are located near the roadside. The litter also starts further down the beach.
Beach profile five starts with a low incline and as it reach its highest point it depreciates. As it is shown alot of human interactions are located here, there alot of footprints at the bottom of the beach. Vegetation and litter starts at the same time early on the beach slope and there is more litter as it gets close to the mangroves.
Unlike profile five profile six has as displays a greater incline of the slope. Which mean profile five has more human interactrions than six. But profile six has more litter than five and also it has less amount of vegetation than five. Although the litter starts at the top of the beach, it still has more litter count than five.
Like profile five beach profile seven too starts with a low incline. Alot of people go here compared to profile six and there are more vegetation, also less litter to be seen. As it is displayed alot of people park their cars at the top of beach profile seven leaving a big depreciation.
Profile eight has a steep inlcline from the bottom to the top of the beach, as it reaches the top there is a big decline. There is not that much litter to be found and also less vegetation.
Beach profile nine is the closest to the mangroves, there are alot of vegetation and also alot of litter. It has alot more litter than profile one due to longshore drift, it collected most of the trash from the other profiles and it is place on profile nine. It has very steep incline because not alot of people play here althought cars do park here at the top of the beach.
In General Analysis
From the slope profile data collected from Pantai Morib, it shows that the slope gets steeper as you move down to the mangroves area at the end which is group 9. In region 1- 3 it shows an uneven slope because it used to be a mangrove area which was removed for tourism where human activities are now located. After the mangrove was removed, due to longshore drift the sediments and sand as well as trash created by human are being drifted along the coast to another end of mangrove area. Therefore, the slope in regions 8 and 9 are steeper compared to other regions.
In regions 1-6, humans activities were most present in those areas. Activities include pollution, recreational purpose, consumption of food, and religion & cultural practices. As this is a tourist attraction, the most significant times that show human activity are usually on holidays or on dry and hot days of the month. Human activities also included the man-made structures on the beach, this included roads, playgrounds, shop-lots for food and services and places built for sightseeing. These human activities has had a significant impact to the beach, it has caused many pollution problems, affected the slope of the beach by moving the sand around from people’s movement and has ruined the overall beauty and nature of the beach.
The mangroves on the end of the beach disrupts the longshore drift, causing all the sediments that were carried by the longshore drift to be deposited on region 9. There is less littering at this end of the beach, compared to other regions of the beach. This is because the visitors of Pantai Morib would most likely to stay near entertainment and tourist facilities such as: the hotel and (Mamak) food stores located in Regions 1-4 instead of exploring the mangroves at region 9.
